Its ambiguous, the hand of giving or the hand of taking? It depends on the day.
The same hand that offers comfort can also withdraw it. The same hand that can hurt us can be the hand that nurture us.
Care and control, generosity and desire, protection and possession can exist within the same grasp.
This work sits in that tension. It asks whether we are witnessing an act of compassion or an act of taking. The answer changes with the viewer. Perhaps it changes with time.
Because sometimes the hands that shape us are also the hands that scar us.
